I shot with retro style cameras for two weeks. Here is the useful part.
Three retro style cameras, two weeks of shooting and one clear winner. What matters, what is hype and which one I would buy again.

For two weeks I carried a retro style camera everywhere. Dials on top, a small screen, and a feeling that every photo should count.

Why retro cameras feel different
Dials make you think before you shoot. You see the settings before you turn the camera on, so you spend less time in menus and more time looking.
What actually matters
- Grip. Flat bodies look great and get tiring after an hour.
- Dials that lock. Mine moved in the bag twice.
- Battery. Small bodies mean small batteries. Carry a spare.
The best camera is the one you want to pick up. For two weeks, that was this one.
Settings I ended up using
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Mode | Aperture priority |
| Auto ISO max | 6400 |
| Film look | Classic Neg |
Would I buy it again?
Yes, as a second camera. For video, my main camera still wins.
